Instructions on the Registration of Temporary Accommodation for Overseas Personnel
1.Applicant eligibility
overseas Chinese, residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and foreigners, who have purchased a property in China, reside in a rented home, or stay in a dwelling provided by an organization or an individual other than a hotel.
2.Application method
the applicant or owner of the dwelling should visit the local police station to deal with the required formalities.
3.Application materials
3.1 The original copy of the applicant’s valid ID document, including his or her valid passport, Seaman's Certificate, Mainland Travel Permit for a Hong Kong or Macao Resident, Travel Pass for a Taiwan Resident to Enter or Leave the Mainland, Foreigner's Permanent Residence Card, as well as a valid certificate issued by China’s entry-exit authorities.
3.2 A copy of the original visa with a stamp (if any) showing the last entry into China (if any).3.3 Proof of residence that is under the jurisdiction of the local police station: property ownership certificate if the applicant has purchased a home by himself or herself; the lease contract if he or she lives in a rented apartment; ID documents of the home owners if the applicant only stays temporally in the home of their friends or relatives. If owner of the dwelling helps apply for the Registration of Temporary Accommodation for Overseas Personnel, he or she needs to present their valid ID documents or certificates issued by their work units.

5.Application processing time
if the submitted materials are authentic and complete, local police station can issue the Certificate of Registration for Temporary Accommodation for Overseas Personnel on site; while if the submitted materials are incomplete and not in compliance with the requirements, local police station will file a record and inform the applicant to submit the complete application materials at an alternative time.
